Nursing Mama's Day in the Life McAllen, TX

What does a day in the life look like for a nursing mama? Well if you live in the Rio Grande Valley, the summer days are blistering hot and the time spent outdoors is short and sweet. (Anyone else with me on this one?)

For Jacqui and her girls, summer involves a lot of giggles, playtime, swimming, and brief afternoon outings on the front porch. 

When I arrived, the girls were telling me all about their baby sister and showing me their cool toys. They ran around the house and filled the room with laughter. Oh, the joys of having little ones! As their mama sat down to breastfeed their little sister, the girls continued on their afternoon adventure. They are witnessing their mother nourishing their baby sister. 

Our babies learn so much from us. Simply by showing them what breastfeeding is and that it's a completely normal way to feed our babies, we are helping shape the generations of the future.

Maybe you had to take a different path and couldn't breastfeed your baby... that doesn't mean you can't help your babies see breastfeeding as a completely normal way to feed babies. Read books together, visit YouTube, or simply hang out with other nursing mamas. Your babies will catch on quicker than you realize that there are many ways to feed our babies.  

¿Cómo se ve un día en la vida de una mamá lactante? Bueno, si vives en el Valle del Río Grande, los días de verano son bastante calientes y el tiempo al aire libre es corto. Para Jacqui y sus hijas, el verano implica muchas risas, correr, nadar y breves salidas por la tarde en el porche delantero.

Cuando llegué, las niñas me contaron todo sobre su hermanita y me mostraron sus juguetes. Corrieron por la casa y llenaron la sala de risas. ¡Oh, las alegrías de tener pequeños! Cuando su madre se sentó a amamantar a su hermanita, las chicas continuaron su aventura de la tarde. Están viendo a su madre nutriendo a su hermanita.

Nuestros bebés aprenden mucho de nosotros. Simplemente mostrándoles qué es la lactancia materna y que es una forma completamente normal de alimentar a nuestros bebés, estamos ayudando a formar las generaciones del futuro.

Tal vez tengas que tomar un camino diferente y no puedas amamantar a tu bebé ... eso no significa que no puedas ayudar a tus bebés a ver la lactancia materna como una forma completamente normal de alimentar a los bebés. Lee libros juntos, visita YouTube o simplemente pasa el rato con otras mamás lactantes. Tus bebés se darán cuenta más rápido de lo que crees de que hay muchas maneras de nutrir a los bebés.
