When should I schedule my newborn photos?
You’re going to have a new baby soon and you may be wondering when exactly you should be booking those precious newborn photo sessions. There’s no easy answer on this one but I can assure you that the sooner you can book them, the better. Many newborn photographers book clients months in advance so their calendar fills up fast.
Inquiring about these sessions sometime in your second trimester (hopefully all the morning sickness and sleepy days are behind you by then) is one of the best times.
When you get started early, you get the opportunity to explore what you want your session to be like. You can hit Google up and do a search of local photographers and find the best one to suit your family’s needs. Maybe you want to glam up or maybe you want a relaxed lifestyle session at home. You may be so busy with your newborn and would rather book someone that can create a special album for you or maybe you wish to just have digitals in a personalized custom USB. Maybe you want video to be part of your package. Whatever you hope to get out of your session, there is a photographer for you.
If you have found me and dig the documentary photography/video approach, I can tell you that it will be the easiest session of your life. Simply book, I’ll be on stand by in the weeks leading up to your due date, and then we can easily get you on my calendar once you bring your baby home. You can pick a cozy corner of your home (maybe the nursery, maybe your favorite reading spot, maybe your own bedroom) and we can document all of your baby’s details and that special bond you are creating.
Babies change so much in the first few weeks of their life. Those wrinkly fingers and toes start to fill in and their sweet little newborn features fade before we can escape that sleepy recovery stage we call postpartum.
Maybe you’re reading this and you’ve already had your baby. It’s never too late. Sometimes spots open up last minute (in my case) because a mama had her baby earlier than expected and we can certainly work you into the calendar. I’d be more than happy to help you document your memories.
